Barack The Vote!

September 16th, 2008

As a East Coast hip-hop/prog-hop band with a political band name, we were never very politically active with our music or our message. Not on purpose but just because we never really strongly believed in anything political. This year happens to be different. We are Barack Obama supports, we have donated money to his campaign and on November 4th we are throwing a party entitled “Baracktoberfest”. We are also traveling across New Jersey and Penn. to spread the word about Barack and doing our part to support him. In October we will be releasing a remixed song titled Nation (The Barack Remix) in support of the campaign.

Here is a blog that was written by member Rapsmear on his ever so popular myspace blog blog.myspace.com/rapsmear

” I never wanted to blog about anything political. Frankly because I’m not really politically educated but, I do watch Bill Maher and MSNBC sometimes which I know is slanted left. But I have been watching both conventions and last night I watched the RNC and found myself pissed off. I remember 4 years ago when John Kerry and Bush were debating and every time Bush opened his mouth it would aggravate me. How could the leader of the free world be so stupid and goofy. He is really fucking goofy. That’s the only word I can use to describe the President right now, which is bad. But I have been watching Obama and Biden speak and I find myself on the verge of excitement. Like I want to cry a little bit. I was very upset at our country when Bush won AGAIN! In 2004, but I feel like this year will be different. I finally feel like we are headed in the right direction. We need an educated lawyer leader like John Adams to run this country correctly which I see in Obama. After watching John Adams on HBO, I see the same qualities in Obama which is a good thing, finally.

I watched Sarah’s Speech last night and cursed at my TV. Now this is just my opinion but I think that it is an insult to women that the GOP decided last minute to pick a woman VP to scoop up confused Hilary supporters. As if they believe that a woman would pick a woman just because she’s a woman. I hope for the sake of this country that they are wrong about that assessment. I tend to give people a little more credit, where Republicans seem to think that Americans are stupid and only care about a downs kid. Which she mentioned that if elected there would be someone in the White House that would support Mothers that have kids with disabilities. She brings a new issue to the table, no one is against kids with downs or kids with disabilities. In fact, it’s a non-issue. But this is the kind of thing the GOP does to appeal to the bible belt.

She attacked Obama by using sarcasm and jokes. Well I hope when 9-11 happens again she won’t be making jokes. Ok that was a little harsh I know but I hope she knows that rice krispie treats and Tang won’t solve America’s problems, like the Economy, which she failed to mention in her speech last night. It might have something to do with the fact that the same guy who rights Bush’s speech wrote hers too. She sucks and need to stick to what she’s good at; making rice krispie treats and Tang.

What was strange was seeing signs that said “Hockey Moms for Palin.” It was like she was running for School Board in the biggest auditorium on the planet. That’s not what I want to see when we are making such a huge decision. Like I said before, I give this country a little more credit, but it’s hard to keep from being cynical. I was hopeful in 2000, I was hopeful in 2004 and now I hope that the third time is really the charm. I love the Liberty Gigoloz.”
